I mean, you usually think to either solve a problem, consider possible future events (ie. “what could happen on this trip?”) or to enter the realm of imagination. But God, as we are told, is omniscient. He knows everything. Past, present and future. And omnipotent. He can do anything. So, if there is truly no problem that exists for you, all future events are known to you and there is not anything you cannot create. Do you think? Rene Descarte walks into a bar. Bartender asks, “Do y...

A few years ago I went to a Christian get-together with a friend. Now, I am Catholic and at one point they asked the members of the audience to be “saved” and come to the front of the stage. Since this really wasn’t for me I remained seated with my friend. A lady came over to me. Apparently they wanted everyone up there. And she asked me a question: “Do you believe the Bible is the inspired word of God?” I replied that I believed He influenced the writing, but the words were written down b...

We seem to have a good sampling of military personnel (Past or present) or their family here. So, I have a question. First, let me state that this is just to get a better understanding of the people in the armed forces. I have the utmost respect and admiration for the job they are doing. In World War II and Vietnam a person was either drafted or enlisted. For Gulf war I it was volunteer as well as for this time. My question is this: Why did you or your family member enlist? I und...

To the reporter on the beach in the middle of the hurricane. Get your butt in the shelter !!!! It’s a flippin HURRICANE !!! Wond, water, damage. We get it. Stop shouting into the mike about stuff we can get from the smart guy 1,000 miles away in the studio and get your white ass into the bunker! Did you ever notice you rarely see black reporters in the middle of hurricanes and severe, life-threatening weather? Hello… you in the thin raincoat, desperately trying to stay upright. We...

Deteriorata (You are a fluke of the universe. You have no right to be here.) Go placidly amidst the noise and waste, and remember what comfort there may be in owning a piece thereof. Avoid quiet and passive persons, unless you are in need of sleep. Rotate your tires. Speak glowingly of those greater than yourself; and heed well their advice, even though they be turkeys. Know what to kiss - and when. Consider that two wrongs never make a right, but that three do. Wherever possible, ...

Atari is putting out Pong in November!!! This will not mean much to the younger crowd, but Pong to the geeks like me of the 70s was a wondrous thing. A simple game, two paddles, two colors, one “ball” that got faster as the game progressed, simple physics and a game that you could understand in seconds and no need for a manual or cheat code or god mode. Pong led to breakout, Asteroids, Battle Zone and others but Pong was my first. IG

A new brain trust: Link Now, my dear abortion protest group, I know that you were probably in a hurry and really "jonesing" to demonstate christian love and compassion by yelling at this man through a bullhorn , displaying grotesque photos and genle godly harrassment. But please, next time. Get your nose out of your Bible book and into a flippin' PHONE BOOK! For harrassment ot be truly effective, the person has to know they are being harrassed. I mean this is not rocket science. Yo...

Now I understand that there are some believers who take every word of the Bible as the exact word of God and must be followed exactly. I understand that. If that gets you through the dark times of the night, great. I am not that explicit with the bible. So, while I am not a Bible scholar, I think that through Mass, Catholic school, meeting with priests and sermons, I have a good “take” on Jesus. Love, compassion, “the way”. A good guy. Now, I read this story: Link Does the Catholic ch...

OK, now I admit I am not an artistic savvy person. I generally have to have the new age, impressionistic art explained to me. But, we are talking Athens. The birthplace of democracy. Artists for centuries have carved the “likenesses” of Athena and Apollo in stone and painted them on canvass. And, in Athens, the birthplace of the Olympics, who did they choose to represent these ancient gods? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5651091/?GT1=4529 Teletubbies on steroids. Come on!!!! We are ta...

Now, I know there is a war on terror and I know we have to trust our government implicitly and that those people in power would never, ever manipulate public opinion or use "scare tactics" to further their own ends, but lets put that aside for a moment and enter the realm of skepticism. The executive branch ordered an orange security alert for Washington DC and financial areas of New Jersey and New York City that could extend into September. There is going to be a Republican National Co...
