Now, I know that there are extremes in the arguments regarding gun control. One extreme says that no one but exceptionally trained people with a complete knowledge of firearms should be able to touch a gun. The other extreme says that any 8 year old should be able to fire an AK-47 at bambi. And then there are the rest of us who take up positions between (hopefully) those two extremes. It just seems to me that, in general, and the Wisconsin event in particular. A restructuring of the proced...

The Old Man paced the room. A young man works at a drafting table, another reads. A young woman places a vase or roses on the table. “Sit down, you’re wearing a path in the carpet. Besides you know when Julie and her friend Emma will be here.” “You mean her lesbian friend. Call it what it is Mary.” The Old Man replies. “Fine, her lesbian friend, Emma. Happy?” “She knows how I feel about this. How could she do this!!!” The Old Man says. Falling deliberately into a chair. With a s...

OK, So I was reading the messages that I missed over the weekend. And I read the one from Texas Wahine about how her December is in the dumper. and the JU people offered words of encouragement. Now Dear Abby has this letter writing campaign for the troops, which due to Armed Forces mail is over, but I thought, one card can cross the states in a matter of days, seconds for an e-card. So, my question to the JU community. Is there an organization that sends cards to the folks back home? ...

I just got a call. My new glasses are ready. I will pick them up Thursday. At least they were ready for my trip to NY. Let me tell you what my Mom said when I told her I needed bifocals. Did she offer words of comfort like, no one will notice without the line, or you'll adjust quickly, oh no, not Mom. Her words? "God, those are a pain in the ass." My loving wife's words of comfort up on hearing the news: "Oooh, you're getting old...." Yes, she was kidding and said it sweetly. But...

I just saw a brief clip. I will see it next week with my kids, but for Hasselhoof to appear in Baywatch gear. The man has a great sense about himself. I have seen him on Leno and he has such a "guys, it was a TV show about Life Guards" sense of humor about himself. IG

I was just going through my Grandfathers effects and he had a large number of black and white pre-1960 photographs and I noticed something, so I check other old blacka and white pictures, civil war books, etc. No one smiled. A few in the family pile, but in general, no one seems happy to be photographed. Am I off on this? IG .

There are a few current blogs on this subject, so instead of commenting, I will just write an entry. My wife is a conservative Republican. Right to Life all the way. Her family is the same. My parents are Democrat, well my father was until he passed. I am more of a moderate, yes there are still a few of us around. Now here is the most amazing part! WE GET ALONG !!! In fact my wife and I get along so well, we have three children. Now, from the vitriol spouting from both Dems and Reps...

When I was growing up and Russia was the THEM to our US, even young I know that when the Kremlin reported that some power guy in Moscow had a cold, he was going to die. Then a few days/weeks later he would die and be replaced, quickly, no muss no fuss. Mr. Arafat is dying, he’s not resting, he’s dying. For years he has been the face of first the PLO and then the spokesman for the Palestinian state. With him gone, and no identifiable hierarchy in place, no right of succession, things may ge...
