The target was 3 1/2 miles away.

I am not knowledgeable in this, so military people, how much ca-ca is this pilot in?

It depends on the system recorder. From what they have released so far the case seems to be a discharge due to malfunction. If thats the case then he has no problems. If his finger slipped onto the trigger and he was weapons hot when he was not supposed to be? Then he gets his ass handed to him.

25 rounds? The vulcan has a rate of fire of around 100 rounds per second. A quarrter-second burst is maybe in the capability of a pilot, but I'd be on a systems malf myself.

OTOH, he coulda just mis-ID'd the target
