OK, now I admit I am not an artistic savvy person. I generally have to have the new age, impressionistic art explained to me. But, we are talking Athens. The birthplace of democracy. Artists for centuries have carved the “likenesses” of Athena and Apollo in stone and painted them on canvass. And, in Athens, the birthplace of the Olympics, who did they choose to represent these ancient gods?

Come on!!!! We are talking about the goddess of beauty and wisdom, and the god of music and the sun. They look like psychedelic salt and pepper shakers.

Over a thousand years of Grecian artwork, countless artist and this was the best they could come up with?

At this point, I’d take Belushi in a toga. TOGA !!! TOGA !!! TOGA !!! TOGA !!!

Loved this quote from the news story:

The pair were derided in various news articles, described as animated condoms and mutants from a nuclear meltdown. Their names were co-opted by anti-Olympic activists, who promptly firebombed two government vehicles in February.
