Bicycle my butt

So, I took my two of my three girls (5, 7) ice skating at the rink last Saturday because the 7 year old wanted to. Now, I skated in my teen years and I could do alright. I could get up speed, turn and stop. I was told you never forget how, it was like riding a bike.

Lying, freakin’ bastards.

So, while I was inching my way across the ice, my eldest was clinging to the side and moving down the wall, the 5 stepped out, fell and stepped back in, this she did several times. Lessons are needed for both and me.

But wait, it gets better. I fell, and apparently I was a tad too slow lumbering onto my feet, because chip and dale came over (YMCA rink watchers) and said: “Are you alright sir?”

Sir?!!!!! You take that back before I hit you with my walker.

Can’t wait until they want to go again. Ohh and they will. They’ll look all cute and say something like “Remember when we went skating and you fell down daddy? Can we go again”. Sure, I love to embarrass myself. In fact next summer, I ‘m getting a speedo.

But I’ll go. And it will be fun. Even after my butt gets numb. Ice is hard.
