Cannons to the right of me....
I have a question about the recent events in Iraq. Now, a soldier is required to follow any non-immoral order given to them. And, it is assumed that any order given in a combat situation comes with the possibility of bodily injury.
Now, at the current state of various explanations the men were asked to go into an area known to occupied by decently armed men, with unarmored or at the least poorly armored vehicles and limited ammunition with what they perceive as a limited chance of non-injury.
My question:
What options are open to a soldier, when given an order which will lead to their possible demise and most certainly injury and the non-conclusion of the mission?
Basically, what if your commanding officer told you to charge up a hill controlled by men with machine guns and you are armed with a pistol?
IG (never liked the charge of the light brigade)
