bordering on ironic

It seems odd to me, that since the war in Iraq is going so well, that in order for the President to visit Iraq, a country we control, the visit has to be a surprise and that the leaders of the country he is visiting, did not know about it until her was in their airspace.

He should visit a safer place.  Like Dallas, in November.  An open motorcade would be just fine, right?

I guess the president should send a detailed, step by step, minute by minute schedule to every nation, every terrorist group and in this case, every Iraqi citizen of his whereabouts.

I love it how people make common, Presidential situations look suspicious. News flash IG, things may be going well in Iraq but no one said the fighting was over and the insurgents had gone home. Did it ever occur to you that maybe Bush wanted to show for himself that things are not as bad as the Democrats want us to believe by going himself as a surprise?

For me, to prove that things are going well, and that we are in control of the situation would be if he made it as if it was a normal visit.

Here I am we are not afraid. We are in control of the situation. Type of deal.

Maybe he was throwing a suprise party for someone and couldn't announce ahead of time.

Maybe it knocked them dead too.

Only if it was for Osama Bin Laden.

He is still playing Hide and seek from the last surprise party.

OK, that's for you. I guess Bush just can't please everyone. He is, after all, human.

Here I am we are not afraid. We are in control of the situation. Type of deal.

Well, maybe you would like to take the chair of President of the US to see just how macho you are. I mean if Bush has to be brave about everything, why do we have the Secret Service then? Do you guys ever notice how silly you sound when you say things like this?

The Secret Service is his bullet proof vest and his second and third pairs of eyes.

And yes, a leader, while showing emotion at least as to have the appearance of command at all times.

My point exactly, why does Bush need them in a country like the US where we can easily have a "Here I am we are not afraid. We are in control of the situation. Type of deal."?

And yes, a leader, while showing emotion at least as to have the appearance of command at all times.

I am not saying that he does not need a modicum of protection both here and abroad. What i am saying is that the President in going into Iraq, a nation we supposedly control, in the way he went in is basically saying that the enemy in Iraq is so inventive and so coordinated that they can launch an attack on a major world figure with so little notice that we cannot even notify the country leaders that we are coming until we are in their airspace.

The part you don't get is that no one denies that. We all know what these people are capable of. We have never claimed to have full control of the country. Where did you get that idea? Didn't you figure out why we did the surge, why we are still in Iraq? That's a duh answer.

why we are still in Iraq?

That's an interesting question... why are we still in Iraq? If we, after more than 5 years still do not control it?

Responsibility, that's why. That and I'm sure Bush has other personal reasons. But what can I say, I don't have all the info. I am not so naive as to think our Gov't is innocent here.
