A letter to the VP

Now, Mr. Cheney,

I know that your boy is in the white house and that we have been greeted with open arms by the loving Iraqis, that the insurgents are in their death throws, and that your Republican faithful are still behind you, but I feel I must point out something.

You seem to be under a slight misconception.

Now I know that you avoided any unpleasantness with the accidental shooting of your friend in the face, even to have the shootee apologize to the shooter. That is f’n power. And I know that though your masterful re-phrasing of the word “torture” you have allowed “enhanced interrogation techniques to be followed.

But there is something amiss.

Now, you have been very adept avoiding certain aspects of the constitution, broadening presidential powers, removing habeas corpus, making statements re-aligning the areas and abilities of the Congress and the Court, and well let’s face it you seem to view the constitution as more of a set of guidelines rather than hard and fast rules.

Which is why I am not surprised by your statement that the Vice President is not part of the executive branch; that you are in fact involved in the working of the Senate, and while the fact that you have additional duties in another branch exists, you simply cannot change the constitution just because you think you can. You simply cannot create a fourth branch of government to satisfy your desire for secrecy. No matter how much you want to.

But please, you've already done the "enemies list" with the lawyers, and the 18 1/2 minutes of missing tape (email loss), take another page from Nixon's book. Don't talk about what you can and can't do, just do it and ask for forgiveness later, preferably with a dog.

Cheney does as Cheney wants and does not allow a little thing like our Constitution get in the way. Bush does the same thing but is not as obnoxious about ignoring the Constitution.

Thank you for writing this letter. You're in the Executive Branch, and if you don't know that, maybe you're just too incompetent to be the vice president.

I think he's the main reason we haven't gotten rid of Bush yet.

While I am a Republican I too am tired of Cheney crapping all over the rule of law and getting away with it.
